This is a Fixed Term Full-Time appointment for 80 hours per fortnight (1.0 FTE) for 5 years, with the possibility of extension.

Position Profile: The Deputy Chief Health Officer - Public Health leads the Office of the Chief Health Officer in the development and management of public health legislation, regulation, workforce, and planning.

Strategic Management and Leadership

Contribute to departmental and divisional strategic planning and decision making.
Advise the Deputy Director General on high level policy issues and significant trends in health protection and public health, public health regulation, workforce, and planning.

Policy Development and Advice

Lead and coordinate Office and strategic policy development.
Provide professional and strategic advice to the Minister, executive management, and key stakeholders on health protection and public health legislation.

Public Health Legislation and Regulation

Advise on the application and revision of health protection and public health legislation and the development of new legislation and regulations.
Develop State-wide strategic plans and policies for implementation of legislation relating to the delivery of health protection and public health services.
