About Ward 7 West
Ward 7 West is a 32-bed acute medical ward belonging to the Medical & Cancer Services Division. 7 West works closely with the Department of General Medicine to provide high-quality, person-centred care to patients with complex medical needs, including those admitted under General Medicine and H&M bed cards. Operating in a dynamic environment with high patient turnover, the ward supports timely flow from the Emergency Department and other areas of the health service. Care is delivered through strong interdisciplinary collaboration with all members of the team working closely together to achieve positive patient outcomes.
About the role
This advertisement is for various shifts including permanent - Thursday 3.30pm to 9.00pm and Saturday 9.00am to 2.30pm, and fixed-term Wednesday 3.30pm to 9.00pm (until 8/11/26) and fixed term Monday & Friday 7.30am to 3.36pm (until 29/11/26). The role provides either in hours ward clerk support to 7 West or after hours ward clerk support to both 7 West and 7 East. The ward clerk will provide efficient reception and clerical services, maintain patient records and uphold the philosophies of the unit.
A regular day will see you:
Supporting the administration needs of the ward
Answering phones and greeting patient visitors
Preparing patient files to be sent to medical records
Maintaining patient confidentiality
Collaborating with nursing and other teams to promote prompt and efficient communication with patients and their families
About you
As the Ward Clerk, you will be someone who has excellent communication skills, with a strong commitment to excellence in patient care. You’ll bring energy and drive to your work and have a keen interest in developing your skillset.
To be successful in this role you’ll bring with you:
Customer service and teamwork experience
Sound administrative skills
Basic IT skills
An understanding of and commitment to patient confidentiality
