About The Role
This is a part time scientist role 38 hours per FN. Must hold bachelor of Med lab science or AIM's accredited equivalent with a background in haematology and transfusion science. This role will require rotation through shifts across 0500-2200 weekdays and 0530-2130 weekends and public holidays. There will be an opportunity to pick up additional shifts and work at other metro labs as operationally required.
We are seeking an experienced Scientist - Multi Skilled who is highly motivated to become part of a passionate and engaged team who will be responsible for:

Performing manual and automated diagnostic testing
-
Performing all routine procedures from point of specimen reception to execution of results for Pathological diagnosis, including specimen dissection

Assisting with Stock Control
-
Compliance with records maintenance and recording of results in line with protocols
-
Maintaining all equipment and operating equipment in line with protocols

Maintaining current scientific knowledge
-
Participating in both routine and audit related Quality Assurance activities
-
Contributing to continuous improvement and the development of new assays as required
-
Participating in training staff
-
Liaising with internal and/ or external stakeholders (referring practitioners) regarding test results or referrals as necessary

Compliance and adherence with Policies and Procedures, Workplace Health and Safety Procedures and Quality Assurance Processes.
About You
To be considered for this position, you will need to meet the essential requirements:

Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Applied Science (Medical Laboratory Science) or equivalent
-
Demonstrated experience, knowledge, expertise and skills within the respective discipline
-
Sound knowledge of QC, QAP and troubleshooting
-
Demonstrated ability to identify, develop and implement quality and service improvement activities in accordance with NATA/ISO accreditation/certification
-
Ability to perform duties with a high degree of independence and with infrequent supervision
