Position Description – Assistant Venue Manager

About the Role
The Assistant Venue Manager plays a key leadership role in the day-to-day operation of the iconic Cascade Brewery Bar. This is a hands-on management position that requires a leader who thrives in a fast-paced hospitality environment, leads from the front, and is passionate about delivering exceptional guest experiences.
As part of the venue leadership team, you will support the Venue Manager in overseeing all aspects of the operation, including restaurant and bar service, functions and events, retail, tourism, and outdoor hospitality spaces. With multiple revenue streams and high seasonal visitation, this role requires strong commercial acumen, excellent people leadership, and outstanding operational execution.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Culture
· Lead by example through active, hands-on involvement in daily service.
· Inspire, coach and develop a high-performing team focused on delivering memorable customer experiences.
· Foster a positive, inclusive and accountable workplace culture.
· Support recruitment, onboarding and ongoing performance management of team members.
· Identify and develop future leaders within the business.
Operations
· Ensure smooth day-to-day operations across all areas of the venue.
· Maintain exceptional standards of service, cleanliness, presentation and safety.
· Effectively manage busy service periods while maintaining quality and efficiency.
· Assist with event execution and coordination across multiple hospitality offerings.
· Ensure compliance with liquor licensing, food safety, workplace health and safety, and company policies.
Financial Performance
· Assist in managing venue profitability through effective control of labour and cost of goods.
· Develop and manage rosters that balance customer service with wage budgets.
· Monitor labour costs, productivity and key performance indicators.
· Manage stock control processes including ordering, stocktakes, waste reduction and inventory accuracy.
· Analyse sales and operational data to identify opportunities to improve performance.
Training & Development
· Deliver structured onboarding and ongoing training programs.
· Coach team members to consistently deliver outstanding service standards.
· Provide regular feedback and performance coaching.
· Drive a culture of continuous learning and operational excellence.
Guest Experience
· Champion exceptional hospitality and create memorable guest experiences.
· Resolve customer concerns professionally and efficiently.
· Continuously seek opportunities to improve service standards and venue presentation.
· Represent the Cascade Brewery brand with professionalism and pride.
Skills & Experience
Essential
· Previous leadership experience in a high-volume hospitality venue.
· Strong understanding of hospitality financials, including COGS, labour management and wage control.
· Experience preparing and managing staff rosters.
· Proven ability to coach, mentor and develop teams.
· Excellent organisational and time management skills.
· Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
· Ability to remain calm and make effective decisions under pressure.
· Current Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) certification.
· Availability to work evenings, weekends and public holidays.
Desirable
· Experience managing large, multi-faceted hospitality venues.
· Experience with functions, tourism or destination hospitality.
· Understanding of inventory management systems and hospitality reporting.
· First Aid certification.

Pay: $80,000.00 – $90,000.00 per year
