Full Job Description

Children First Early Education South Hobart is more than just a childcare centre; it's a place where bonds are formed, little hearts are nurtured, and dreams take root.

We are seeking a fully qualified and highly skilled Cook/Chef to join our beautiful, state-of-the-art service in South Hobart. This is a part time position (37.5 hours) offering a fantastic lifestyle balance: Monday to Friday work,with no weekend work or late shifts!

About Your New Role

Nutritious Catering: You will prepare, cook, and present a wide variety of nutritious meals (breakfast, morning tea, lunch, and afternoon tea) for children aged 4 months to 6 years.
Expert Dietary Management: You will lead the preparation of purees and special dietary meals, with a high level of expertise in managing complex allergies, intolerances, and cultural/religious dietary requirements.
Menu Planning: Engage in collaborative menu planning in accordance with our nutrition policy, ensuring variety and balance for a large-scale service.
Kitchen Management: Work within budgets, liaise with local suppliers, and maintain a pristine kitchen environment in accordance with Food and Council Authority requirements.

About You

We are looking for a culinary professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and understands the critical importance of safety and nutrition in care settings.

Experience: Proven experience running a kitchen and catering for a large service. Background in Childcare or Aged Care is highly regarded due to the specialized dietary knowledge required.
Specialist Knowledge: High level of competency in managing allergies and cultural food requirements.
Attributes: You are a reliable, positive, and well-organized professional with excellent time management skills.
Added Value: Confidence in providing a barista service to our families (on-the-job training provided).

Qualifications:

Certificate III in Commercial Cookery (preferred).
Current Food Handling / Food Supervisor Certificate.
Current Working with Vulnerable People registration (TAS)
Approved First Aid, Anaphylaxis, and Asthma qualifications.
