The Opportunity
Avant Law is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Paralegal to join our Sydney team on a full-time basis. Job sharing arrangements will also be considered.
This is an excellent opportunity to work alongside some of Australia’s leading specialist medico-legal solicitors in a collaborative and supportive environment.
Key Responsibilities
In this role, you will provide essential support to the legal team by assisting solicitors in the management of medico-legal matters and contributing to the effective operation of the legal practice
- Preparing legal documentation including briefs, correspondence, subpoenas, summaries, and chronologies
- Managing court and tribunal filings
- Accessing and reviewing subpoenaed documents
- Liaising with witnesses, experts, court, and tribunal staff
- Attending court and recording detailed court notes
- Coordinating meetings and taking minutes
- Undertaking legal research
- Assisting with invoice processing and settled matter administration
- Providing general office administration and phone support
About You
To succeed in this role, you will have:
- Previous experience in a paralegal or legal administrative role
(Law students currently undertaking undergraduate or postgraduate studies are encouraged to apply)
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Fast and accurate typing skills, including digital dictation typing
- Experience drafting and formatting legal documents
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
- High attention to detail
- Intermediate Microsoft Office skills across Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
- Experience preparing and maintaining legal files
