About the Role
We are seeking an experienced
Site Supervisor – Substation / BESS to join the
Fraser Coast Hybrid Solar and Battery Energy Storage Project.
Reporting to the Construction Manager, you will be responsible for the
day-to-day supervision and coordination of both 275/33kV substation and BESS construction activities, ensuring all works are delivered safely, to high quality standards, and in line with programme milestones.
This is a key site leadership role with direct involvement in
HV plant installation, BESS systems delivery, transmission interfaces, and commissioning readiness.
Key Responsibilities
Substation / BESS Construction Supervision
- Supervise civil, structural or electrical works across substation and BESS scopes
- Oversee HV primary plant installation (transformers, breakers, CTs, VTs, earthing systems)
- Supervise BESS installation, including battery containers (56 units), PCS/PCU systems, RMUs, transformers, and SCADA infrastructure
- Coordinate crane lifts for major equipment, containers, and structural installations
- Manage subcontractors, work sequencing, and multi-discipline interfaces
- Ensure all works are delivered in line with IFC drawings, OEM requirements, and project specifications
Transmission & Interface Coordination
- Coordinate 275kV transmission interface works, including landing beam and connections
- Liaise with Powerlink and stakeholders for permits, hold points, and compliance
- Manage HV cable interfaces between substation and BESS systems
- Ensure all works meet transmission operator and energisation requirements
Programme & Delivery
- Maintain and communicate 3-week lookahead schedules
- Monitor site progress, labour, plant, and subcontractor performance
- Coordinate equipment deliveries and installation sequences
- Identify risks, delays, and implement mitigation strategies
Safety, Quality & Compliance
- Lead site safety activities including pre-starts and toolbox talks
- Enforce compliance with SWMS, PTW systems, HV isolation, and exclusion zones
- Manage ITPs, inspections, hold points, and QA/QC documentation
- Identify, track, and close defects and NCRs
Commissioning & Energisation
- Coordinate progressive system handover to commissioning teams
- Support pre-commissioning, testing, and energisation activities
- Manage switching, isolation, and safe access during energisation
- Ensure readiness for staged commissioning and project completion
Administration & Reporting
- Maintain daily site diaries, permit registers, and progress reports
- Manage as-built documentation and quality records
- Ensure subcontractor compliance documentation is audit-ready
- Support preparation of handover packs and commissioning documentation
About You Essential
- Minimum 5+ years’ experience in site supervision on HV substation, BESS, or energy infrastructure projects
- Strong experience with HV primary plant and/or BESS systems installation
- Proven ability to manage subcontractors across multiple disciplines
- Experience working in live HV or complex construction environments
- Strong understanding of ITPs, permits, and commissioning processes
- Construction White Card & Driver’s Licence
- Rigging/Dogging High Risk Work Licence
- CPR / LVR certification
Desirable
- Experience with Powerlink or similar network operators
- Renewable energy project experience (solar, BESS, substations)
- Familiarity with OEM installation & commissioning processes
- EWP Licence
- Electrical licence or HV trade background
- Experience using Procore, Hammertech, or similar systems
