About Us
7R Logistics has been transporting milk from farm to factory for over 30 years. In Gympie we are proud to have a great local team of skilled professionals led and supported, as always, by manager Rick. You won't find a more loyal, organised or honest guy in the industry.
The fleet is all modern NHVR accredited European prime movers that provide high standards of comfort and safety to our drivers. Our trailers are custom-built with a variety of systems (air, hydraulics, electrics) and some really cool electronics too.
The role
We are currently looking for an experienced heavy vehicle mechanic with specialist skills in trailers and hydraulics to maintain our fleet of tankers. With a commitment to quality in customer service, safety and professionalism, this is an important and valued role within the team.
The workshop is well equipped with two junior mechanics or apprentices to mentor and support. Along with servicing, maintenance and repairs, you can expect to be involved with some really cool and innovative projects too. The variety of systems on the trailers also means there is a lot to keep you interested and busy every day.
Standard hours can be 5 days a week, 8 hours a day, or 4 days a week, 10 hours per day, we have flexibility that way. You will be on call every second weekend, but call-outs are currently be infrequent.
You
You’ll need evidence of:
- Mechanical experience (minimum 2 years) specialising in heavy vehicles and trailers
- A proven ability to plan, prioritise and manage your own time & work, as well as troubleshoot the unexpected.
- Good personal behaviours, including discipline, hygiene and communication
- Past performance to a highly professional standard
- A truck driving license (HR or above)
- Formal qualification as a heavy vehicle mechanic, with other relevant certifications and records of skills updates looked upon favourably too.
The primary focus is on the trailers, air, hydraulics, brakes, electrics and some pretty cool systems, so you'll need to show that you have expertise in this area. Welding skills are also highly valued.
The Offer
The team is very stable and this reflects the great culture and environment. The roster flexibility is excellent for work-life balance too.
On top of that, a generous hourly rate recognises your skill and experience. If you want to work a little more often and hold (or are willing to upgrade to) an MC or HC license, you should be able to pick up driving shifts too - if you want them.
