Role Overview
The Paralegal provides practical paralegal and governance coordination support across the Group Governance function.
The role supports the delivery of legal, governance and compliance activities through the coordination of processes, preparation of documentation, administration of governance systems, maintenance of records and monitoring of recurring obligations.
Working collaboratively with stakeholders across the business, the Paralegal helps ensure governance activities are delivered accurately, consistently and in a timely manner by coordinating actions, maintaining reliable records, supporting effective governance processes and contributing to continuous improvement across the function.
Key Responsibilities
Maintain legal records and systems, including legal templates, registers, document management systems and other records, ensuring information is accurate, current and readily accessible;
Coordinate recurring legal compliance activities, including maintaining reporting schedules, monitoring key dates, coordinating information from stakeholders, maintaining registers and following up outstanding actions;
Assist with legal operations, including the administration relating to external legal service providers, processing and coordinating invoice approvals and payments, and maintaining efficient operational processes;
Provide Company Secretarial support, including maintaining corporate records, preparing company secretarial documentation, updating corporate registers, assisting with shareholder enquiries, and supporting Board and Committee administration where required;
About you
Your skills and experience will include -
Ability to obtain a Maritime Security Identification Card (MSIC);
Current Drivers Licence;
Ideally minimum 3 years Post Qualification Experience;
Certificate IV or Diploma in Legal Services, Business Administration or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of skills, knowledge and experience gained in a paralegal, legal secretary or similar role.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build effective working relationships across the business;
High level of accuracy and attention to detail;
Ability to prepare clear and accurate documents using approved templates and established processes;
Strong computer skills, including the ability to quickly learn and effectively use business systems and technology;
Sound judgement, discretion and the ability to maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive information; and
Proactive approach to coordinating work, following up actions and identifying opportunities to improve processes and ways of working.
