Role Overview:
We're seeking a skilled Cake Masking and Decorator to join our dynamic team. In this hands-on role, you'll be responsible for the artistic finishing touches that make our chiffon cakes stand out. From smooth masking with whipping cream to intricate decorations, you'll help bring our creative visions to life while maintaining the high standards that have made ENZE a favorite among Sydney foodies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Masking chiffon cake layers with whipping cream for a smooth, professional finish.
- Decorating cakes with fruits, edible flowers, piping details, and other elements to match our signature styles.
- Assembling multi-layer cream cakes with precision and attention to aesthetic balance.
- Collaborating with the baking team to ensure cakes are prepared fresh daily and meet quality standards.
- Maintaining a clean, organized workstation in compliance with food safety regulations.
- Contributing ideas for new flavor combinations and decorative techniques.
Required Skills and Experience:
To excel in this role, you should have hands-on experience in cake decoration, particularly with chiffon bases and whipping cream applications. Key skills include:
- Proficiency in cake masking techniques to achieve even, flawless cream coatings (as shown in our multitasking and assembly videos).
- Expert piping skills for borders, rosettes, and detailed designs.
- Ability to work with fresh fruits, matcha, yuzu, and other Asian-inspired ingredients for thematic decorations.
- Strong attention to detail and creativity to replicate our viral cake styles.
- At least 1-2 years of experience in a professional bakery or patisserie setting; pastry chef background is a plus.
- Ability to handle a fast-paced environment, including early morning shifts and multitasking during peak hours.
