The Opportunity
We're seeking a dedicated WHS Permit to Work Officer to join our team at the Gold Coast Desalination Plant in Tugun 4224. This pivotal position focuses on maintaining operational excellence through expert oversight of our work authorisation and safety systems, with particular emphasis on electrical safety and high voltage equipment management.
In this role, you'll take ownership of our comprehensive Permit to Work / LOTO framework, utilising Veolia's specialised software platform. You'll serve as the central liaison for all safety compliance activities, supporting seamless operations across maintenance programs, capital projects, and day to day activities.

What you'll be responsible for
Administer and coordinate the facility's Permit to Work System, with emphasis on electrical and high voltage operations
Assess and approve Permit to Work requests for all operational and maintenance activities
Design and field implementation of isolation protocols (LOTO), particularly for electrical and high voltage equipment
Oversee electrical isolation and LOTO procedures for high voltage equipment to ensure compliance and safety
Perform facility inspections and safety engagement activities with focus on electrical hazard areas
Maintain adherence to WHS legislation and facility standards, including electrical safety regulations
Liaise across departments for authorisation approvals
Ensure precise documentation and reporting practices
What you'll need to be successful
Electrical qualifications and High Voltage (HV) experience – demonstrated hands-on background in electrical systems and HV operations
Demonstrated capability in authorisation management and Permit to Work systems within industrial operations
Comprehensive knowledge of WHS practices in high hazard environments, particularly electrical and high voltage contexts
Hands on experience with LOTO protocols and risk evaluation in electrical/high voltage environments
Strong understanding of electrical safety standards and isolation procedures
