We're looking for a Project Engineer - Electrical & Control to join our Gladstone operations team. This is a hands-on project delivery role where you'll take ownership of capital projects valued between $100K and $5M, integrating electrical, instrumentation, and control systems across a complex heavy industrial site.
You'll work closely with project managers, area managers, maintenance teams, and external specialists to bring projects from concept through to commissioning and handover - so if you thrive in a collaborative, multi-disciplinary environment, this one's for you.
- Owning the full lifecycle of capital projects ($100K - $5M) - from early planning through to delivery - keeping safety, quality, budget, and timelines on track
- Working with project owners, engineers, and area managers to get clear on what success looks like for each project's electrical and control systems
- Being the go-to person for contractor safety on site, with direct oversight of work in hazardous areas
- Looking after hazardous area compliance for your assigned sectors - keeping registers up to date and sorting out any issues as they come up
- Coordinating contractors and specialist trades to make sure the right people are in the right place and the work meets standards
- Running clean project handovers to the maintenance team so nothing falls through the cracks - drawings, manuals, certifications, the lot
- Getting involved in commissioning - overseeing programming, testing, and tuning to make sure everything works as intended before you hand it over
- Keeping site compliance documentation current and contributing to change management and project governance processes
Above all, you're someone who enjoys working as part of a team. You bring technical depth, but what sets you apart is how you collaborate - you build strong working relationships across disciplines, communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical stakeholders, and you're energised by working through problems with others.
You'll also bring:
- A degree in Electrical Engineering
- Solid experience in heavy industrial or mining environments working across the full range of electrical systems - from high voltage right through to low voltage
- A track record of managing capital projects ($100K - $5M), including bringing together electrical and control system elements
- Hands-on experience with PLC and SCADA systems (e.g. Schneider, Rockwell), including programming and troubleshooting
- Strong understanding of hazardous area requirements and how to keep things compliant on site
- Experience designing and commissioning electrical assets like transformers and switchgear
- Comfortable working with AutoCAD drawings
- EEHA certification (or willingness to get it)
- A project management qualification or equivalent real-world experience

- An unrestricted Australian Electrical Licence or RPEQ registration
