Goonawarra Day Hospital is an accredited private day surgery providing high-quality patient care across endoscopy, ophthalmology, eye clinic and other specialist procedures. We are seeking an experienced and motivated Senior Administration & Reception Coordinator to join our friendly and professional team.
This is a senior front-of-house role suited to someone who enjoys leading by example, has exceptional organisational skills, and is committed to delivering outstanding patient service.
About the Role
Reporting to the Director of Nursing, you will oversee the day-to-day administration and reception functions of the hospital while ensuring patients, surgeons, anaesthetists and visitors receive a professional and welcoming experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate the reception and administration team.
- Provide exceptional customer service to patients, families and medical practitioners.
- Manage patient admissions, bookings and discharge administration.
- Coordinate theatre lists and appointment scheduling.
- Liaise with surgeons, anaesthetists, GP clinics and other healthcare providers.
- Process health fund, Medicare and DVA billing.
- Maintain accurate patient records and ensure compliance with privacy legislation.
- Assist with accreditation, quality improvement activities and administrative reporting.
- Support recruitment, onboarding and training of administration staff.
- Develop and maintain administrative policies and procedures.
- Ensure efficient workflow and continuous improvement of administrative processes.
About You
The successful applicant will have:
- Previous senior administration or reception experience in a hospital, day surgery or specialist medical practice.
- Strong leadership and team coordination skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Outstanding organisational and time management abilities.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- A professional, caring and patient-focused approach.
- Confidence working in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
- Sound computer skills and experience with medical practice management software.
- Knowledge of Medicare, private health funds and hospital billing processes (highly desirable).
- Lives locally (highly desirable)
