Peer Navigator
Mental Health Drug & Alcohol – Gilgandra/Gulargambone

About the role

The peer workforce will draw upon their lived experience of mental health challenges and their personal recovery journey to develop empathic relationships and support personal recovery for people who access the service. The peer worker will promote, encourage, facilitate and support effective recovery activities which assist people to maintain their mental health and wellbeing. They will work collaboratively and positively with consumers and staff to promote engagement of people in their individual treatment and recovery.

This is a temporary full time position based in Gilgandra and Gulargambone with the working hours being 0830am – 5:00pm working closely with the Community MH team and the Ngo’s and agencies within the community.

Please note – this position will help support the LHD in providing a flexible response to the diverse needs or local communities and priority population groups in the event of a disaster or rural adversity – as per the Disaster Response and Recovery Model of Care.
