About the role
The Grade 4 Cardiac Sonographer/ Physiologist: possesses high levels of specialist knowledge in one of the following clinical areas within Cardiology ambulatory services across Barwon Health: Cardiac Catheter Laboratory, Echocardiography, or Cardiac Rhythm Management.
- Deliver specialist cardiac diagnostic services in line with clinical practice guidelines, credentialing requirements, and best-practice standards.
- Accept full responsibility for accurate completion and reporting of diagnostic cardiology tests, including correct patient identification and data integrity.
- Operate and maintain specialised cardiac equipment and systems, ensuring safe use, timely reporting of faults, and appropriate consumable management.
- Contribute to education, supervision, and continuous improvement activities, including mentoring staff, participating in audits, and supporting quality and safety processes.
Cardiac Sonographer
- Successfully completed a Degree or Postgraduate qualification in Sonography recognised by the Australian Sonographer Accreditation Registry (ASAR) and is eligible for admission to the Register of Accredited Medical Sonographers by the Australian Sonographer Accreditation Registry
- or not completed a Degree or Postgraduate qualification in Sonography recognised by the Australian Sonographer Accreditation Registry (ASAR), but has been admitted to the Register of Accredited Medical Sonographers by the Australian Sonographer Accreditation Registry
Cardiac Technologist
- Bachelor of Science Degree, Bachelor of Applied Science Degree, or equivalent
- Cardiac Rhythm Management – Current IBHRE vocational certificate and CEPIA certification or
- Post Graduate Degree AQF Level 8 or 9 in addition to current IBHRE/CEPIA
