The Team & Role

The Allied Health Assistant (Grade 2) works within the inpatient subacute Occupational Therapy service, supporting Allied Health Professionals to deliver safe, patient-centred care. This role involves assisting with therapy programs, supervising patients with daily living activities, providing basic equipment and education, and facilitating group sessions under supervision. The AHA also contributes to team activities, maintains accurate documentation, and supports clinical outcomes by monitoring and reporting patient progress. In addition, the role includes managing equipment orders and loans, maintaining stock and databases, and ensuring treatment areas and equipment are clean, organised, and ready for use.

Skills & Experience Required

Minimum qualification of Allied Health Assistance Certificate III level from RTO or equivalent, (grade 2).
Experience working in acute or sub-acute inpatient setting.
Demonstrated understanding of the goals and priorities of occupational therapy within a hospital setting.
Ability to provide individual therapy and education to patients as prescribed by the occupational therapist.
