Join Parks Victoria as a Liwik Barring Ranger to help shape and care for iconic landscapes through hands-on environmental management, community engagement, and diverse field operations.
About the role:
The Liwik Barring Ranger will work across the Liwik Barring landscape within the Dandenong Ranges and Yarra Ranges Area. The position supports the integration of new land parcels into Parks Victoria and will establish a database of assets and stakeholders. The role will also deliver on-ground field services across environmental and asset management. The successful applicant will require strong stakeholder management skills and will work closely with DEECA colleagues.
You will demonstrate a strong work ethic and contribute to a positive team environment where individual excellence drives collective success. You are adaptable, flexible, and committed to providing superior park management services in response to changing on-ground requirements.
Specifically, you will undertake day-to-day activities including:

Park Patrols & Visitor Engagement: Monitoring park use, addressing public concerns, and resolving customer complaints

Maintenance & Infrastructure: Clearing and maintaining walking tracks, installing signage, seating, and safety barriers, and maintaining visitor facilities (e.g., toilets, BBQs, and picnic shelters)

Environmental Stewardship: Conducting pest plant control, environmental monitoring, and responding to illegally dumped waste

Operational Support: Performing basic tree felling, maintaining depot standards, and ensuring plant and equipment are fit for purpose
We're looking for someone with:

Relevant Trade or Technical Qualifications: Qualifications in Natural Resource Management, Conservation and Land Management, or a related field. Experience in landscaping, carpentry, or other trades would be highly regarded

Operational Experience: A proven track record in delivering routine and moderately complex on-ground services and projects, both independently under general supervision and as part of a collaborative team

Strong Communication Skills: Excellent interpersonal and verbal skills, with the ability to explain management concepts clearly to people from diverse backgrounds and engage constructively with colleagues and stakeholders

Community & Volunteer Engagement: The ability to work productively with members of the public, volunteer groups, and park users to deliver services and projects within parks and reserves
