About the Department / Program - Wellness and Recovery Centre Day Program
The Wellness and Recovery Centre (WRC) is a specialist eating disorder service that is treatment based and recovery orientated. Teams provide care to both acute inpatient medical units and community treatment options utilising evidence based therapies, within a person centred, trauma informed and inclusive model of care. WRC has four teams: Adult Outpatients, Adults Inpatient, Youth Day Program and Adolescent In-reach to Aviary Ward.
The Monash Health, Wellness and Recovery Inpatient Program is a hospital based specialised service providing person-centred, trauma informed, inclusive evidence based support and intervention to individuals (aged 18+ years) experiencing severe and complex eating disorders. The program offers a higher level of care to individuals who require mental health treatment in a medical ward environment. The Inpatient Program is a structured group program to assist individuals address factors that contribute to the development and maintenance of their eating disorders; with an emphasis on eating normalisation and emotional wellness, the program teaches recovery management tools to achieve long-term, meaningful change.
Join our team as a Mental Health Clinician on a part time (7 day rotating shift/ 4 shifts per week), ongoing to work at Inpatient Program based at Dandenong Hospital. In this role, you will be guided under the leadership of the Wellness and Recovery Centre’s manager and working with the broader Inpatient Program team.
As a Mental Health Clinician on the Adult Eating Disorders Inpatient Unit, you will play a pivotal role in delivering high-quality, person-centred care to individuals in the acute phase of their eating disorder treatment. Working within a multidisciplinary team, you will provide direct clinical support and therapeutic interventions in a ward environment. The program is committed to an evidence-based, trauma-informed model of care, and the ward setting offers a dynamic and structured space for intensive treatment, close monitoring, and coordinated care planning tailored to each individual's recovery journey. Provides individualized and group psychoeducation and support to consumers about eating disorders and recovery from a trauma informed framework.
- Provides structured, compassionate meal support to promote nutritional rehabilitation
- Monitors mental state and risk, including suicidality, self-harm, and eating disorder behaviours.
- Facilitates therapeutic groups interventions focused on topics such as body image, emotional regulation, distress tolerance, motivation, information about health, food, minds, and body that promotes harm minimisation and recovery.
- Promotes a recovery-oriented, trauma-informed approach that respects the dignity and autonomy of each consumer inclusive of gender-affirming, neuro-affirming and size inclusive frameworks.
To be successful in this healthcare role, you will bring the following demonstrated skills, experience, and attributes:
Thrives in dynamic inpatient settings, bringing core counselling skills, group facilitation, clinical insight, and a collaborative approach to trauma informed multidisciplinary care
Mandatory requirements of the role - qualifications, licences, memberships:
- Current registration with AHPRA
- Working with Children’s Check
- Relevant post-graduate qualifications in mental health Nursing, Psychology, Occupational Therapist, Social Work, Speech Pathology, Exercise Physiology.
