Join Acland Street Physiotherapy + Melbourne Running Clinic
St Kilda | Paid Contractor Role | Flexible Hours
Acland Street Physiotherapy and Melbourne Running Clinic are looking for an experienced physiotherapist to join our growing team as a paid contractor.
We are particularly interested in someone with strengths or a developing interest in MSK, sports, running injuries and ideally women’s health, including the opportunity to build a distinctive clinical niche within an established local practice.
There is existing clinical work available, so you do not need to arrive with your own caseload.
At the same time, we are looking for someone who wants more than simply filling appointment slots — someone interested in building a strong professional reputation across Acland Street Physiotherapy and Melbourne Running Clinic.
The opportunity
Through Acland Street Physiotherapy, you will work with a broad private MSK caseload in the heart of St Kilda. Through Melbourne Running Clinic, there is also the opportunity to develop expertise in running injury, rehabilitation and performance.
The role may suit a physiotherapist interested in:
- Women’s health and women’s musculoskeletal presentations
- Pelvic health, pregnancy and postnatal rehabilitation, if within your scope and training
- Running injuries and gait assessment
- Sports and musculoskeletal physiotherapy
- Strength and conditioning
- Tendon rehabilitation
- Return-to-running and return-to-sport rehabilitation
- Reformer Pilates
- Persistent pain
- Developing a recognised clinical niche
You will have the opportunity to treat an existing patient base while progressively developing the areas of practice that interest you most. For the right clinician, there is a particular opportunity to help us grow a stronger women’s health offering alongside our established MSK, sports and running services.
Our clinic
Our St Kilda clinic spans two suites and includes:
- Two rehabilitation gyms
- Dedicated reformer Pilates room overlooking Luna Park
- Specialised 24 km/h treadmill
- Running assessment technology
- Modern strength, rehabilitation and movement-analysis equipment
- AI-assisted documentation through CliniScribe
You will also have access to:
- An established and highly rated local clinic
- Referral pathways through both Acland Street Physiotherapy and Melbourne Running Clinic
- The opportunity to build a women’s health niche within the broader clinic
- Local sporting connections, including Old Melburnians Soccer Club
- Support developing your clinical niche and patient base
- Flexible working arrangements
- Strong clinical autonomy
- Potential future leadership or partnership opportunities
Our focus is on clinical quality, patient experience, communication and long-term outcomes — not volume-based KPIs.
Mentoring and professional development
Acland Street Physiotherapy is led by Barry Nguyen, a physiotherapist with more than 20 years of MSK and sports experience, private practice owner, former software engineer and founder of healthcare AI company CliniScribe.
Depending on your interests, mentoring can include:
- Clinical reasoning and complex MSK presentations
- Running injury assessment and rehabilitation
- Building and positioning a women’s health or female athlete service
- Developing a strong private practice caseload
- Building and positioning a clinical niche
- Patient experience and professional reputation
- Strength and rehabilitation programming
- Healthcare technology and AI-enabled practice
- Private practice and business development
The contractor role
This is a paid contractor position with flexibility around days and hours.
The arrangement provides:
- Existing clinical work
- Competitive contractor remuneration
- Flexible working hours
- Clinical autonomy
- Administrative and clinic support
- Access to rehabilitation facilities and technology
- Opportunity to grow your own following and areas of interest
- Support developing your professional profile
- Potential to expand your role as the clinic grows
Remuneration and structure will be discussed based on experience, availability and the nature of the role.
About you
You will ideally:
- Hold general AHPRA registration as a physiotherapist
- Be confident managing an MSK caseload
- Have Australian private practice experience
- Demonstrate strong clinical reasoning and communication
- Have an interest in women’s health, running, sport or active rehabilitation
- Be professional, reliable and patient-centred
- Have the right to work in Australia
Experience in women’s health, pelvic health, pregnancy/postnatal rehabilitation, running injuries, sports physiotherapy, strength and conditioning, Pilates or return-to-sport rehabilitation would be highly regarded. Formal women’s or pelvic health training would be particularly attractive, but is not essential if this is an area you are committed to developing.
Most importantly, we are looking for someone who genuinely cares about becoming an excellent clinician and providing an outstanding patient experience.
Long-term potential
For the right practitioner, the role could develop into:
- A strong and loyal private patient caseload
- A recognised women’s health, running or sports physiotherapy niche
- Leadership within Melbourne Running Clinic
- Sporting and community partnerships
- Education and professional development opportunities
- Potential future partnership opportunities
We are not simply looking for the next available physiotherapist.
We are looking for someone who wants to build something meaningful, become known for excellent care and grow alongside the clinic.
