Insight Underground Utility Detection is looking for an experienced Underground Service Locator to join our growing team.
We work across a diverse range of projects throughout Melbourne and Victoria, providing professional underground utility detection services to the civil, construction, infrastructure and related industries.
We are looking for someone who already has solid industry experience and is confident working independently in the field.
About the Role
As an Underground Service Locator, you will be responsible for accurately identifying, locating and marking underground services across a variety of sites and projects.
Your day-to-day work will include:
- Locating underground utilities using electromagnetic locating equipment and Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR)
- Reading and interpreting Before You Dig Australia (BYDA) plans and other service information
- Identifying and marking underground services
- Completing site documentation, pre-starts and required safety documentation
- Recording field information and preparing clear, accurate reports
- Communicating professionally with clients, site supervisors and other contractors
- Maintaining and caring for locating equipment and company vehicles
- Working safely and following company and site-specific WHS requirements
About You
To be considered for this position, you will need:
- Minimum 2 years' experience in underground service locating
- Demonstrated experience using electromagnetic locating equipment and GPR
- Strong ability to read and interpret BYDA plans and utility information
- Good understanding of underground utilities and civil/construction environments
- Ability to work independently and confidently manage jobs in the field
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
- Good communication and customer service skills
- Good computer and reporting skills
- Strong commitment to workplace health and safety
- Relevant Tickets and BYDA/Certloc Certification
