Copperfield College is a large, multi-campus secondary school located in Melbourne's north-west. The College comprises two junior campuses (Years 7-10) in Kings Park and Sydenham, and a senior campus (Years 11'12) in Delahey. We serve approximately 2,000 students and are supported by 150 EFT teaching staff, 70 EFT Education Support staff, and seven Principal Class personnel. The College has a Student Family Occupation and Education (SFOE) index of 0.65, reflecting a significant level of social disadvantage within our community.
Copperfield College is highly culturally diverse, with approximately 40 per cent of students from a language background other than English. Despite the challenges associated with this context, the College performs at or above expectations when compared with schools of a similar profile, particularly in VCE outcomes.

Our strategic direction focuses on delivering consistently high-quality teaching and learning through a Guaranteed and Viable Curriculum, with a strong emphasis on reducing in-school variation. Building the capacity of all teachers to collaborate effectively within Professional Learning Communities is a key priority, enabling the delivery of differentiated and responsive learning for every student. Copperfield College is a significant provider of VET in Schools and a key member of the Brimbank VET Cluster. As the lead school of a Technical Trade Centre, we offer programs including VET Automotive, VET Electrotechnology, and a range of other vocational pathways. The College also places strong emphasis on co-curricular programs and student leadership opportunities.
The College sustains a stable International Student Program, with 40 international students currently enrolled. English as an Additional Language (EAL) is delivered across all campuses, including a Multicultural Education Aide (MEA) support staff, alongside two Languages Other Than English (LOTE), one of which is supported by a longstanding sister-school partnership of more than 27 years with Fuji Junior High School in Japan. The College also offers an Excelling Program (SEAL) for students performing above, ensuring that high academic students' needs are appropriately met. An Excellence in Sports Program (Basketball) is running working together with Keilor Thunder Basketball.
Positions advertised at Copperfield College are not campus specific. Staff are deployed according to student learning needs, with opportunities to move campus on an annual basis.

SELECTION CRITERIA
1. Communication and Interpersonal Skills
Demonstrated highly developed written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build positive relationships and communicate effectively with students, families, staff, homestay providers, overseas agents, and external agencies from diverse cultural backgrounds.
2. Organisation and Administrative Capability
Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities, maintain accurate records, meet deadlines, and coordinate complex administrative processes with a high level of attention to detail.
3. Program Coordination and Leadership
Demonstrated experience in coordinating programs, projects, or initiatives, including the ability to work collaboratively, solve problems, and achieve successful outcomes.
4. Student Wellbeing and Support
Demonstrated capacity to support student wellbeing, engagement, and successful transitions, with an understanding of the educational, social, and cultural needs of international students.
5. Compliance and Policy Knowledge
Demonstrated understanding of, or capacity to develop knowledge of, Department of Education International Student Program requirements, Child Safe Standards, privacy obligations, and relevant policies and procedures.

ROLE
Position Purpose
The International Student Program (ISP) Coordinator is responsible for the day-to-day coordination, administration, welfare, and compliance requirements of the International Student Program at Copperfield College. The role supports international students, homestay families, parents, staff, education agents, and the Department of Education to ensure students are provided with a safe, supportive, and high-quality educational experience.
The ISP Coordinator works under the direction of the Principal and the designated Principal Class Officer responsible for the International Student Program and ensures compliance with all Department of Education International Student Program requirements, Child Safe Standards, and relevant legislative obligations.
This position is 5 days a week with 4 weeks Annual leave.
A leave purchase allowance will be paid fortnightly.
Key Responsibilities
Program Coordination and Administration

Coordinate the day-to-day operation of the International Student Program across the College.

Maintain accurate student records and documentation in accordance with Department of Education requirements.

Manage international student enrolment processes, including enquiries, applications, orientation, arrivals, transfers, departures, and exits.

Assist with student visa compliance requirements and monitor student attendance, course progress, and welfare obligations.
-
Prepare reports and maintain data relating to international students as required by the College and the Department of Education.

Support Campus Principals and relevant staff with enrolment, placement, and transition processes for international students.
Student Welfare and Wellbeing
-
Provide ongoing welfare, pastoral care, and transition support to international students.
-
Conduct regular wellbeing check-ins with international students and monitor their academic progress, attendance, engagement, and overall adjustment to life in Australia.

Identify students requiring additional support and coordinate appropriate interventions and referrals.
-
Support students in understanding College expectations, policies, procedures, and Australian cultural norms.

Ensure all international students are aware of and able to access student wellbeing services available at the College.
Homestay Management
-
Coordinate and monitor homestay arrangements in accordance with Department of Education International Student Program requirements.

Conduct homestay inspections, assessments, and monitoring visits as required.

Maintain regular communication with homestay providers, students, parents, and relevant stakeholders.

Support the recruitment, induction, and retention of suitable homestay families.

Ensure all homestay arrangements comply with Child Safe Standards and Department of Education requirements.
Stakeholder Liaison and Communication

Act as the primary point of contact for international students, parents, homestay providers, education agents, and Department of Education personnel.

Liaise effectively with International Student Unit (ISU) staff, College staff, overseas agents, parents, and external support services.

Facilitate communication between students, families, teachers, and College leadership where required.

Coordinate translation and interpreter services to support effective communication with students and families.
Student Orientation and Cultural Programs

Coordinate orientation programs for newly enrolled international students.

Organise and implement cultural, educational, leadership, and extracurricular activities that enhance students' understanding of Australian culture and community life.

Promote opportunities for international students to engage with the wider College community.

Support initiatives that celebrate cultural diversity and foster intercultural understanding across the College.
Marketing and Program Promotion

Work closely with the designated Principal Class Officer to promote the College's International Student Program.

Assist with marketing activities and engagement with prospective students, families, and education agents.

Promote the College within the wider community to support the recruitment of international students and homestay families.

Contribute to the development of promotional materials and information sessions as required.
Compliance and Child Safety

Ensure compliance with all Department of Education International Student Program requirements, policies, and procedures.

Support the College's commitment to Child Safe Standards and student safety.

Monitor attendance, welfare, accommodation, and academic progress requirements and escalate concerns appropriately.

Maintain confidentiality and manage sensitive information in accordance with privacy legislation and Department guidelines.

Ensure all relevant documentation, records, and reporting obligations are completed accurately and within required timelines.
