Our operation is undergoing strategic expansion, and we are seeking a progressive person to join our high-performance feedlot team as a Feed Mill and Mixer Wagon Operator, where precision and consistency drive animal health and productivity.
Your role will entail accurate preparation, mixing, and timely delivery of feed rations to livestock, supporting optimal animal health, performance, and operational efficiency across the feedlot.
Key Responsibilities
- Feed Preparation & Mixing
- Operate mill equipment to grind, mix, and batch feed rations according to nutritional specifications.
- Monitor ingredient inventory and report shortages or inconsistencies.
- Maintain accurate records of feed batches, ingredient usage, and mix times.
- Wagon Operation & Delivery
- Safely operate mix wagons and delivery vehicles to distribute feed to designated pens.
- Follow feed delivery schedules and ensure consistency in ration placement.
- Conduct pre-start checks and routine maintenance on delivery equipment.
- Equipment Maintenance
- Perform basic servicing and cleaning of mill machinery, wagons, and associated tools.

- Assist with minor repairs and liaise with maintenance teams as needed.

Data & Record Keeping
- Log feed deliveries, pen conditions, and any anomalies using digital system
- Collaborate with nutritionists and supervisors to ensure feed quality and compliance.
Animal Observation
- Monitor cattle behaviour and feed consumption during delivery.
- Report signs of illness, stress, or feed refusal to livestock health teams.
Safety & Compliance
- Adhere to WHS protocols, biosecurity measures, and feedlot SOPs.
- Participate in safety briefings and training sessions.
- Ensure biosecurity measures are followed during ingredient handling and feed production.
The roster consists of 10 days on 4 days off. During peak times you may be required to do additional hours.
It is envisaged the successful applicant will also bring their experience and knowledge to the table to grow the business, your input will be encouraged.

We also run a 500hd Simmental breeding herd and produce a variety of winter and summer crops which supply our feedlot. We strive to target key KPI's for our customers and pride ourselves on the care we take of the livestock and constantly look for those 1% improvements in our day-to-day operations.

The Ideal Candidate would have the following characteristics:
- Experience in a similar role, can problem solve and progressive.
- Machinery operation experience and mechanical aptitude
- Open drivers’ license,
- HR or MR truck license (not essential but preferable)
- Familiarity with batching systems or feed management tech
- Record-keeping skills, computer literate
- Strong communication skills
- Willingness to learn, diligent, a focus for attention to detail, works with a team and individually.
Remuneration: Competitive salary (based on experience), shared accomodation available. The location is ideal for singles & couples. It is 15mins to Finley, 45mins to Cobram and 60mins to Shepparton with 2 major supermarkets delivering to the door.
