Department Liaison Assistant (multiple roles)

Salary: $100,894 - $114,476 plus superannuation
Work type: Fixed term until 2 November 2026

The Role

The Department Liaison Assistant (DLA) supports the work of Departmental Liaison Officers (DLOs) by facilitating strong communication and the efficient flow of information, advice and documents between the Department of Jobs, Skills, Industry and Regions (DJSIR) and Ministerial Offices. Working across two portfolios within one Ministerial Office, you will operate in a fast-paced and often complex environment, supporting the delivery of timely, high-quality advice and coordination services.

These roles are ideal for someone with exceptional relationship-building, coordination and administrative skills, strong attention to detail, and the ability to engage confidently with senior executives. You will exercise sound judgement under pressure, communicate effectively with a broad range of stakeholders, and work both autonomously and collaboratively to ensure the smooth management of departmental and ministerial liaison activities.

Main Accountabilities

Manage systems and processes for briefings, correspondence, record keeping and administrative support between DJSIR and the Minister's Office.
Monitor correspondence received by the Minister's Office and facilitate appropriate responses or referrals.
Coordinate and facilitate administrative requests across Ministerial Offices.
Support the DLO by obtaining timely advice and information, identifying matters requiring attention and assisting with issue resolution and quality assurance activities.
Coordinate and monitor departmental advice and deliverables to ensure the Minister and Ministerial Office receive cohesive and timely information.

The Teams

The various positions of Department Liaison Assistant forms part of either the Economic Policy, Programs and Services Group or Industry, Trade and Investment Group. These positions will work collaboratively with the Sport and Experience Economy Group.

The Economic Policy, Programs and Services (EPPS) Group supports sustainable economic development and employment growth across Victoria through policy development, research, project delivery, evaluation and strategic advice. The Group delivers priorities that support small business growth, employment participation and economic inclusion while partnering across government and industry to achieve positive outcomes for Victorians.

The Industry, Trade and Investment Group works closely with businesses locally and globally to grow Victorian jobs, drive innovation and increase Victoria's international competitiveness. The Group supports trade, investment, manufacturing, research commercialisation and business growth across priority sectors.

The Sport and Experience Economy Group delivers programs and initiatives that strengthen sport, tourism, events and outdoor recreation across Victoria, supporting economic growth, community participation and world-class experiences.

You will use your project delivery skills to coordinate competing priorities, monitor progress and ensure outcomes are delivered within agreed timeframes. You are adaptable and respond positively to ch anging priorities in a fast-paced environment, while maintaining high levels of accuracy and professionalism. You will also bring strong stakeholder engagement capabilities, building productive relationships, adding value to clients and stakeholders, and facilitating effective communication across diverse groups to achieve successful outcomes.
