- Temporary, full-time up to 2 years
- Location: Parramatta – with access to hybrid flexible working arrangement
- Clerk Grade 1/2, Salary ($75,728 - $82,329 pa), plus employer’s contribution to superannuation and annual leave loading
This position is open to Australian Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people only.
Your role
Provide a range of administrative and reception services to internal and external stakeholders to support the effective delivery of quality services within the Youth Justice NSW Community Investment and Partnerships Team. As an integral member of the team, the role is responsible for managing administrative systems, processes, and procedures, and providing a high level of administrative, coordination, and customer service support to ensure the efficient operation of funded service programs.
This role is committed to improving outcomes for the benefit of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
What you’ll do
Youth Justice’s Community Investment and Partnerships team is looking for an Aboriginal Administrative Assistant to work as part of the administration team to efficiently deliver administrative and support services for the operation of the team
- Act as a primary point of contact by providing administrative support across multiple programs, including managing telephone, email, and online enquiries from staff and service providers. Deliver timely, accurate information and ensure effective referral to the appropriate program areas to support responsive and coordinated service delivery.
- Undertake a range of administrative services relating to the business, including non-complex client matters, word processing, data entry, preparing correspondence, collating documentation, maintaining electronic and file records and support with meetings and events to support the day-to-day operations of the team.
- Provide administrative support related to project tasks or urgent actions including supporting the management team.
- Assist with financial and workforce transactional activities including purchasing, invoice processing, time-sheet management adhering to Departmental processes in accordance with relevant practices and standards.
- Assist with projects and research.
- Communicating respectfully with Aboriginal communities in a culturally sensitive way (Yindyamarra – with respect)
What we’re looking for
- Working With Children Check (WWCC) clearance for paid employment.
- As an Identified role, this role is open only to Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander persons, Australia’s First Nations people.

There are two alternatives to confirming your Aboriginality, one of which must be uploaded to be considered for the role as follows. Either will be accepted:
Confirmation of Aboriginality form
or
Written confirmation from 2-3 Aboriginal organisations within the community in which you live/work, which addresses the three criteria listed below:
- is of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent, and
- identifies as an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person, and
- is accepted as a such by the Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander community.
Appointments are subject to reference checks. Some roles may also require the following checks/ clearances:
- National Criminal History Record Check in accordance with the Disability Inclusion Act 2014
