The Role
Line 1 Risk for Claims & Assessing enables effective risk management by guiding, supporting, and facilitating teams within the division in their ownership and management of operational incidents and risks. You will ensure consistent application of risk frameworks, accurate data capture, and continuous improvement, empowering divisional teams to manage their risk landscape effectively. This role will have a particular focus on Operational Resilience, embedding management of Models, Information security, Business Continuity and Suppliers Performance.
Position Accountabilities

Identify and escalate gaps in risk management processes, controls, or documentation within Claims & Assessing, recommending improvements.

Support the delivery of training and capability building initiatives related to risk management for divisional teams.

Guide Claims & Assessing teams in identifying potential incidents from complaints and review findings, and provide oversight for thorough incident investigations, ensuring accurate documentation in Nlighten (Risk Management System).

Stay up to date with changing cybersecurity trends and all applicable legislative requirements.

Facilitate incident and issue resolution and corrective actions within the division, liaising with Line 2 Compliance as needed, and ensuring clear ownership and accountability for all divisional issues.

Assure completeness and accuracy of all incident and issue data in Nlighten for Claims & Assessing, upholding data integrity and maintaining confidentiality of sensitive information.

Support the review of complaints handling effectiveness within the division to identify systemic issues and areas for improvement.

Guide and support divisional teams in conducting effective root cause analysis for incidents and issues and provide advice on effective control design to mitigate identified risks.

Facilitate linking divisional issues to related risks in Nlighten to enhance understanding of underlying causes, and guide ad-hoc risk assessments for specific projects or activities within Claims & Assessing.

Proactively identify patterns, themes, and insights from divisional incidents and issues through thematic reviews and analysis, ensuring data quality for consistent reporting.

Facilitate reporting to key decision-making forums, such as the Divisional Risk Forum, EXCO, and the Board.
What experience you’ll bring
Qualifications:
? Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Risk Management, Law, or a related discipline.
? Relevant industry certifications (e.g., risk management, compliance) are desirable.
Skills & Experience:
? 1-3 years of experience in a risk, compliance, audit, or operational role, preferably within a
financial services or regulated environment.
? Foundational understanding of risk management principles, incident management, and control environments.
? Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with keen attention to detail.
? Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex information clearly and concisely.
? Proficiency in using risk management systems (e.g., Nlighten) and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel,Word, PowerPoint).
