About the Role:

Victoria University Legal Practice team are looking for educators with current industry experience as a practicing lawyer, conveyancer or senior law clerk to teach in our Advanced Diploma of Legal Practice and Certificate 4 in Legal Services. The role would suit persons passionate about legal education and teaching the next generation of legal professionals. Our students come from diverse backgrounds and include court registrars, school-leavers, mid-career and pathway progression to our law-degree.

Position Key Duties:

Teaching classes in the Certificate IV in Legal Services and Diploma of Paralegal Services
Preparing class content materials including case notes, problem-based learning scenarios, and delivering classes
Competency based assessment and student evaluation

Position Details:

Salary: $98.34 per hour for teaching, $63.29 per hour for non-teaching duties
Employment Type: Sessional
Hours per Week: 6-12
Location: City Tower

About You:

Our teaching team is looking for someone with:

Holding or ability to obtain a TAE40116 or TAE40122 Certificate 4 in Training and Assessment prior to February 2024

For lawyers, admission and practicing in Victoria for at least 1 years with some experience of law firm practice and attending magistrates courts and tribunals.

For conveyancers , license and registration in Victoria with at least 1 years experience in PEXA, leases, sales of business, advising on contracts of sale of land, and completing vendor/purchaser settlement.

For senior law clerks and Paralegal , at least 2 years experience having worked with barristers/counsel and solicitors in preparing matters for hearing and trial and law-firm office administration experience.

Strong legal research and law practice knowledge.

Good knowledge of current issues in state and federal law.

Please note: The University is a Child Safe organisation. You will be required to hold a current Employee - Working with Children Check (WWCC) or be willing to obtain one prior to commencing employment.
