As our organisation continues to grow, we are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Occupational Therapist with extensive experience completing Functional Capacity Assessments (FCAs) and delivering evidence-based recommendations that empower individuals to achieve greater independence, safety, and quality of life.

About the Role
The successful applicant will play a key role in conducting comprehensive assessments and developing detailed reports for individuals living with disability, age-related conditions, neurological disorders, mental health challenges, acquired injuries, and complex support needs.
You will work collaboratively with participants, families, carers, support coordinators, healthcare professionals, guardians, and funding bodies to identify support requirements and provide recommendations that maximise functional independence and improve overall wellbeing.
A significant component of this role involves the completion of high-quality Functional Capacity Assessments and associated reports for NDIS participants, aged care clients, and individuals requiring rehabilitation and community-based supports.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive Functional Capacity Assessments (FCAs)
- Complete Assistive Technology Assessments and recommendations
- Undertake Home and Living Assessments
- Complete Supported Independent Living (SIL) assessments and recommendations
- Assess participants for Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA) eligibility
- Conduct environmental and home modification assessments
- Evaluate activities of daily living, mobility, cognition, sensory processing, behaviour, communication, and community participation
- Develop detailed, evidence-based reports that meet NDIS, aged care, insurance, legal and funding requirements
- Provide recommendations regarding support ratios, therapy interventions, equipment, housing, environmental modifications and capacity-building strategies
- Collaborate with participants, families, support teams and allied health professionals
- Maintain accurate clinical records and documentation
- Participate in case conferences and multidisciplinary team meetings
- Stay current with NDIS legislation, best practice standards and clinical frameworks
Essential Criteria
- Bachelor's or master's degree in occupational therapy
- Current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
- Demonstrated experience completing Functional Capacity Assessments
- Strong understanding of the NDIS and disability support sector
- Experience working with individuals living with physical disabilities, intellectual disabilities, autism spectrum disorder, psychosocial disabilities, neurological conditions and complex support needs
- Exceptional report writing skills with the ability to provide clear, evidence-based recommendations
- Strong clinical reasoning and assessment skills
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities
- Current National Police Check
- NDIS Worker Screening Clearance
- Current Working with Children Check
- Current Driver's Licence and willingness to travel
Highly Desirable
- Experience with SIL and SDA assessments
- Experience working within aged care and Home Care Package environments
- Knowledge of rehabilitation and injury management frameworks
- Experience working with participants presenting with behaviours of concern
- Experience with complex mental health presentations
- Knowledge of restrictive practices, behaviour support frameworks and positive behaviour support
- Experience conducting Assistive Technology assessments and recommendations
- Experience preparing reports for insurance providers, guardianship matters, legal proceedings or compensation schemes
