Your Opportunity
At MAC River, we provide a safe and supportive residential rehabilitation service for young people aged 13–18 experiencing alcohol and other drug challenges. Through trauma-informed and culturally safe care, we support young people to build stronger futures through three months of residential support, followed by six months of aftercare in the community.
As a Case Worker, you will play a key role in supporting young people throughout their recovery journey. You will build trusting relationships, understand each young person’s individual needs, and work alongside them, their families, MAC River staff, and community services to develop and coordinate meaningful support plans.
You will help young people identify their goals, access the right supports, strengthen their skills and confidence, and prepare for a positive transition back into the community.
This role includes participation in a rotating on‑call shift roster, with some weekend shifts as part of the rotation.
Your key responsibilities will be to:
Walk alongside young people as a consistent and trusted support person throughout their recovery journey.
Build respectful, culturally safe relationships with young people, families, and community networks.
Work with young people to understand their strengths, identify their goals, and develop personalised case plans that support their wellbeing and future success.
Provide practical support, advocacy, referrals, and coordination with local services to help young people access the right supports.
Work collaboratively with MAC River staff, Aboriginal services, community organisations, and external providers to support positive outcomes for young people.
Maintain accurate case notes, reports, and records while ensuring safe, high-quality, and accountable service deliver
Requirements for success
Relevant tertiary qualifications in Community Services, Social Work, Psychology, or a related discipline, or demonstrated equivalent experience.
Ability to build genuine, respectful relationships with young people, families, and community members.
Commitment to supporting young people through their recovery journey and helping them build safe, healthy futures.
Experience supporting people with complex needs, including alcohol and other drug challenges, trauma, mental health concerns, family challenges, or housing instability.
Strong case management skills, including the ability to advocate, coordinate supports, and connect young people with the right services.
Demonstrated understanding of culturally safe practice and the importance of working respectfully alongside Aboriginal young people, families, and communities.
Current unrestricted Driver Licence.
Current First Aid & CPR Certificate (or willingness to obtain)
Before starting work with us, you will need to undertake a national police history check, qualifications, and referee checks, and have a clearance to work with children/vulnerable people.
