About the role

The Senior Planner provides expert statutory planning advice to support transport outcomes across Victoria. The role helps ensure DTP meets its planning and referral authority obligations by coordinating planning advice, developing best practice guidance and training, and supporting planning matters before VCAT, Planning Panels and Advisory Committees.

The role also leads planning reforms and process improvements, manages projects and resources to deliver outcomes on time and within budget, and builds strong relationships with key stakeholders including councils, regulators and transport agencies. Other duties may be assigned in line with the employee’s skills, capabilities and classification.

Thinks strategically, aligning day-to-day activities with broader organisational objectives and translating plans into action.
Demonstrates strong statutory planning expertise, works effectively across teams, adapts to changing priorities, and remains focused on delivering meaningful results for the community.

Qualifications and experience

You’ll bring:

A qualification in urban planning (mandatory).
Demonstrated Victorian statutory planning experience, ideally gained within local government, state government or a private consultancy environment.
The ability to work flexibly with stakeholders across metropolitan and regional Victoria, with a willingness to occasionally attend DTP suburban and regional offices; a current driver's licence is desirable.
