About the Role
The Network Engineer is responsible for the design, deployment, 24x7 operation, and continuous improvement of Estia Health’s enterprise network infrastructure across a large, national, geographically distributed aged care environment.
The role supports secure, safe, and reliable clinical and corporate operations by ensuring secure, resilient, and high performance wired, wireless, voice, and WAN connectivity across residential facilities, regional offices, and central services and manages the company’s firewalls.
The Responsibilities We Will Trust You With
Network Design and Architecture
- Design and maintain enterprise LAN, WAN, WLAN, and SD-WAN architectures supporting a national, 24x7, multi-site company.
- Develop network designs aligned with business growth, acquisitions, and regulatory requirements relevant to the aged care sector.
- Produce and maintain network architecture diagrams, site designs, and technical standards.
Wired and Wireless Networking
- Design, deploy, and manage wired and wireless networks, including access points, switches, and controllers.
- Administer and optimise Aruba Central or other control systems for configuration management, monitoring, and performance tuning.
- Conduct wireless surveys, coverage planning, and remediation in clinical and residential environments.
Firewalls, Security, and SD-WAN
- Configure, manage, and optimise FortiGate or other firewalls, including security policies, VPNs, IPS, and content filtering.
- Design and support SD-WAN solutions to improve performance, resilience, and cost-efficiency across sites.
- Work closely with cybersecurity teams to apply network security controls and best practices.
Voice and Real-Time Services
- Support VoIP and SIP-based telephony services, ensuring quality of service (QoS) across wired and wireless networks.
- Troubleshoot latency, jitter, and packet-loss issues affecting voice and real-time communications.
- Collaborate with vendors and carriers to resolve escalated voice and connectivity issues.
Network Operations and Upgrades
- Perform network upgrades and refresh activities, including hardware lifecycle management and firmware upgrades.
- Monitor network health, capacity, and performance, proactively identifying risks and improvement opportunities.
- Act as an escalation point for complex network incidents impacting business-critical services.
Documentation and Standards
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date network documentation, including configurations, diagrams, and operational procedures.
- Ensure consistent network standards are applied across all sites and new deployments.
Stakeholder Engagement and Teamwork
- Work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary IT team, promoting a strong team culture and shared ownership.
- Engage with internal stakeholders, site managers, and clinical staff to understand operational requirements.
- Liaise with vendors, service providers, and carriers during design, implementation, and support activities.
Travel and Site Engagement
- Travel to sites nationally as required to support network deployments, upgrades, and remediation activities.
- Provide on-site technical support during major works, incident resolution, or new site onboarding.
Your Areas of Knowledge and Expertise
Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Network Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline, or
Equivalent industry experience combined with relevant professional certifications.
Skills and Experience
Proven experience in a Network Engineer role within a large, multi-site, 24x7 enterprise environment.
- Strong hands-on expertise with:
- Enterprise networking (LAN, WAN, WLAN).
- Wireless networking in complex environments.
- FortiGate or other firewalls and SD-WAN.
- VoIP / SIP technologies.
- Experience administering Aruba network infrastructure and Aruba Central.
- Strong troubleshooting skills across routed, switched, wireless, and WAN networks.
- Ability to create high-quality technical documentation and network diagrams.
- Willingness and ability to travel regularly to support national operations.
This position is Full Time (38 hours per week) working from our Melbourne Central Services office Monday to Friday.
Remuneration Salary Package - Grade 5 - $98,080.00 - $122,600.00 Annual
