Leedal Pty Ltd is one of Western Australia’s leading Indigenous-owned organizations, playing a vital role in the economic development of Fitzroy Crossing. As the trustee for the Fitzroy Crossing Trust, Leedal supports six local Indigenous corporations, ensuring responsible management of key community assets and businesses.

We are seeking a motivated and experienced Butcher’s Assistant for our recently acquired and established business Sampey Mini Mart based in Derby. Must have at least two years’ experience in similar capacity and in a similar business.

The main duties include, but are not limited to:

Assist the qualified butcher with the routine preparation of meat products for display and sale.
Assist in cutting, slicing, dicing, and grinding meat, poultry, and other products under supervision in preparation for sale or further processing.
Gather, weigh, and measure ingredients and supplies needed for meat preparation and smallgoods production.
Wrap, pack, label, and price meat products, and assist with arranging displays in chillers and cabinets.
Wash, clean, and sanitise work areas, benches, equipment, knives, and utensils in line with food safety requirements.
Store meat, ingredients, and supplies correctly in refrigerators, freezers, and cool rooms to maintain freshness and quality.
Assist with receiving deliveries, checking stock, and advising the butcher when supplies are running low.
Support general front-of-counter service, including assisting customers and handling basic enquiries.

The suitable applicants should:

Have minimum of two experience in a meat retail, food handling, or similar environment, or be willing to undertake on-the-job training.
Understand, or willingness to learn, food safety, hygiene, and sanitation practices.
Be physically fit and able to work in a cold environment and stand for extended periods.
Be reliable, hardworking, and able to follow instructions and workplace procedures.
Have good communication skills and a courteous manner with customers.
Be able to work both independently and as part of a small team.

The employer will offer:

A full-time contract for at least 3 years, extendable for further term.
An annual salary of $68,000 - $72,000 (negotiable) + superannuation will be offered to the successful candidates with relevant qualification and experience.
