Based in our Brisbane office and working as a Civil Engineer at Sarens (Australia) Pty Ltd, you will be responsible for determining the technical solution, providing or producing all required technical drawings, calculations, documentation and give technical advice in an efficient and qualitative manner to demonstrate the technical feasibility of an operation or to support the design of equipment, in accordance with the Sarens Group SHEQ standards within the proposed timeframe.
Key responsibilities:
Client Engagement: Act as the primary point of contact for clients, discussing project requirements, providing technical insights, and ensuring client needs are met.
Project Planning and Preparation: Develop technical solutions, perform calculations, create or oversee technical drawings (eg. via CAD Designer/Autodesk Inventor), organise logistics and prepare project-specific Safety, Health, Environment, and Quality (SHEQ) documentation.
Project Execution and Supervision: Monitor project progress, ensuring alignment with budget, scope, and timeline. Supervise on-site operations, prioritising safety and quality while motivating and coaching team members.
Co-ordination and Communication: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including riggers, crane operators, and supervisors, to execute projects efficiently. Provide regular updates to stakeholders on project status.
Technical Expertise: Utilise knowledge of cranes, Self-Propelled Modular Transporters (SPMTs), skidding systems, and other heavy special equipment to design and implement effective lifting and transport solutions.
Compliance and Reporting: Ensure adherence to applicable codes, safety regulations, and Sarens’ SHEQ policies. Maintain project documentation, including progress reports and technical evaluations.
Qualifications and Skills:
Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering.
Experience: 2–5 years of experience in project engineering, preferably in construction, heavy lifting, or engineered transport. Knowledge of cranes (eg. Liebherr, Grove, Terex, Tadano) and SPMTs is an advantage.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in design and visualisation software (eg. AutoCAD, Inventor). Ability to read and interpret mechanical and electrical schematics. Familiarity with project management tools (eg. MS Office, Bluebeam, Procore) is a plus.
Soft Skills: Excellent organisational, time management, leadership and decision-making skills. Strong written and verbal communication skills to interact with clients and teams effectively.
Other Requirements: Willingness to travel for project assignments. Valid Australian engineering license or equivalent certification is preferred. Fluency in English, additional languages are a plus.

Pay: $80,000.00 – $90,000.00 per year
