Primary objective
As a member of the College Leadership Team, provide innovative educational leadership and management to implement curriculum,
wellbeing and educational programs at Taminmin College. Heads of Department and Year Co-ordinators should inspire students,
staff and community members to optimise the learning and engagement of all students. They lead the implementation of an
effective, future focused educational programs through Years 7 to 12 and contribute to the College vision and improvement
agenda. This position works closely with RTOs and industry partners to support the delivery of vocational education and training
at Taminmin College.
Context statement
Taminmin College is a large, comprehensive, and complex Independent Public School that services the rural area of Darwin, catering
for students from Years 7 to 12. The College Values of: Respect, Effort towards Excellence, achieve your Goals, Caring Community
and Honesty are embedded in all school operations. The school operates a large farm, a successful Vocational Education and
Training program as well as servicing special needs students through an on-site Special Education Centre. At Taminmin every child

Key duties and responsibilities
1. Collaborate with senior members of staff including the NTCET Coordinator and Year Level Coordinators to undertake tracking
of NTCET completions including post school tracking.
2. Provide coaching and mentoring about teacher professional practice, knowledge and engagement of curriculum and year level
teams.
3. Build and lead high performing teams to work effectively to foster a learning environment for students that will result in
improved student outcomes.
4. Models effective teaching practices through expectations for all staff to achieve high standards and build their capacity through
professional learning and performance management.
5. Lead, co-ordinate and facilitate the implementation of Department of Education strategic requirements together with Taminmin
College strategic agenda around the priority; Create Pathways to Real Jobs.
6. Lead the collaboration with apprenticeship providers and manage documentation and systems for work experience, vocational
work placement and school-based apprenticeships.
7. Develops relationships with RTOs and industry partners to support the delivery of vocational education and training at
Taminmin College and external RTOs
8. Work with other Senior Teachers, Assistant Principals, and the principal to drive continuous improvement at the College.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Demonstrate capacity to model best practice secondary teaching and learning
2. Demonstrated knowledge and experience in offering strategic guidance in tracking student outcomes to maximise completion
rates in line with student pathways.
3. Proven ability to build the capacity of self, others and high performing teams through coaching and mentoring around
curriculum, pedagogy and assessment, and the use of student data to inform teaching and learning.
4. Proven ability to work within a cross cultural school environment and successfully develop effective partnerships with school
leadership team, staff, parents and the community, including industry.
5. Demonstrated ability to build a shared culture of high expectations while developing and maintaining effective relationships
within and beyond the College community
