Primary objective
Provides authoritative strategic and operational advice that influences contemporary nursing/midwifery practice and service delivery
across the health service and NT Health.
Context statement
The Director of Nursing (DoN), Integrated Care provides strategic, professional and operational leadership for nursing services
across Ambulatory Care, Renal, Cancer and Palliative Care, with accountability for financial and operational performance in
partnership with the Director of Medical Services. The role leads workforce strategy, governance, quality and safety, and service
innovation within a multidisciplinary executive environment, working collaboratively with stakeholders to strengthen integrated,
culturally safe models of care. The DoN Integrated Care drives organisational performance and system reform to improve access,
coordination and health outcomes for Territorians through innovative care closer to home.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Leads and collaborates in the development, review, and evaluation of services, including interpreting established professional

precedents and organisational policies, and supporting change management as required for operational effectiveness and delivery of
contemporary safe and effective healthcare.

2. Accountable for compliance with regulatory, professional, and organisational requirements, including establishing systems and
accountabilities to monitor and address outcomes.

3. Creditably advocate for nursing/midwifery and represent the profession(s) effectively within the NT and interstate.
4. Demonstrate NTH values - safe; responsive; kind – in all decision-making and interactions with consumers and colleagues.
5. Follow defined service quality standards, work health and safety policies and procedures relating to the work being undertaken in

order to ensure high quality, safe services and workplaces.
6. Foster a positive workplace culture through exemplary leadership practices and role modelling behaviour
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Current registration with Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia or eligible for same.
2. Demonstrated contribution to the profession and/or specialty at local and national level.
3. Demostrated experience in advanced leadership and management including strategic thinking, practical people management and the

ability to successfully support change in a dynamic environment.
4. Demonstrated ability to lead development and implementation of strategic activities that promote and support nursing/midwifery

services and advance core NT Health strategies.
5. Demonstrated ability to facilitate a positive work environment that promotes professional excellence and builds organisational

capability and responsiveness.
6. Demonstrated use of effective communication skills to maximise productive working relationships, including with relevant specialists

and executive management, and manages conflict to promote co-operation, teamwork and understanding.
7. Demonstrates and applies highly developed knowledge and understanding of the social and cultural issues, influences and sensitivities

that influence health care provision for individuals and groups.
Desirable
1. Masters Degree, or equivalent, beyond entry to practice relevant to specialty area.
2. Graduate Certificate in Management or equivalent.
