Primary objective
As a key member of the school leadership and management team, provide leadership, coaching and support to staff to ensure
the delivery and effective implementation of curriculum, pedagogy and assessment, and to meet the wellbeing and academic
needs of the community.
Context statement
Dripstone Secondary College is located in the Darwin suburb of Tiwi and has an enrolment of 750 students. The school
provides high quality educational programs to students in Years 7 to 10. Transitioning to year 12 by 2028 in a safe and
supportive environment with a strong wellbeing and engagement focus based on School Wide Positive Behaviour
Framework. Rigorous and relevant teaching and learning is offered through a range of subjects to maximise student learning
and engagement. The school has strong connections with partnering schools to enhance transitioning through the stages of
schooling.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Provide leadership and support to staff to ensure the delivery of educational programs in accordance with departmental
policy, including undertaking an appropriate teaching load, and to meet the educational needs of the community.
2. Take a leadership role in curriculum, pedagogy and assessment in a curriculum area.
3. Provide mentoring and coaching for teachers, with a focus on building capacity to use data and current research to reflect
on and refine pedagogical practice.
4. Participate proactively as a member of the leadership team in whole of school management and decision making to
achieve the school’s vision, mission and goals.
5. Lead, coordinate and facilitate the implementation of Department of Education systemic requirements and whole school
evidence-based approaches.
6. Provide leadership to address the educational, well-being and behaviour needs of a diverse group of students through
relevant, high quality and culturally aware teaching and learning, including School Wide Positive Behaviour processes.
7. Undertake duties as directed by principal, teaching duties and deputise for the principal when required.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Proven ability to lead and work with a leadership team to successfully implement the principles of the Australian
Curriculum, SACE, School Wide Positive Behaviour Framework, wellbeing strategies and quality teaching and learning
practices in order to measurably improve student learning and wellbeing outcomes.
2. Demonstrated instructional leadership to coach and mentor teachers, to build capacity and expertise within teams using
an inquiry approach.
3. Proven evidence of an ability to lead and implement policies, procedures and frameworks.
4. Demonstrated application of high-level communication, interpersonal, change management and organisational skills.
5. Proven ability to promote positive relationships with staff, students, parents and the community to improve student
academic outcomes through effective wellbeing and engagement strategies.
