Your Role as a Graduate - Electrical Engineer
As a Graduate-Electrical Engineer at Orica, you’ll gain practical experience working with experts in high- and low-voltage power, instrumentation, control, and automation. You will learn the fundamentals of reliability and integrity engineering, whilst working alongside maintenance, operations, project, and turnaround teams.
What you will be doing
The Graduate Electrical Engineer will work with other Reliability & Integrity Engineers to:
Identify plant issues and drive continuous improvement in plant performance;
Analyse failure modes, plant performance, and undertake root cause analysis;
Develop plant improvements, maintenance strategies, and take on small projects from concept development through to execution and finalization;
Work with the capital project department to successfully implement major plant upgrades;
Participate in plant turnarounds and major projects;
Understand and manage risk to ensure that safety, health, and environmental controls are maintained;
Participate in occasional off-site engineering and local community activities supported by Orica.
In addition, you will be assigned a small area of plant for which you will be personally responsible for engineering maintenance, reliability and performance improvements.
What you will bring
A bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, completed or due for completion before June 2027;
A willingness to work in site-based and field environments;
Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive mindset;
Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to build effective relationships across diverse teams and stakeholders;
A strong commitment to safety, continuous improvement, and learning in a dynamic operational environment.
Location and Support
These roles will be based at our Yarwun Manufacturing Facility, close to Gladstone, Queensland, where you’ll gain valuable, hands-on experience in a dynamic operational environment.
