The Opportunity
We are seeking a detail-oriented Technical Documentation Specialist to author, edit, and manage high-level technical documentation for the Matisa P95 Track Renewal Train. This is not just a document control role; you will be responsible for researching complex technical data and producing clear, structured documentation that enables our operators and maintainers to work safely and effectively. You will act as a primary technical author, bridging the gap between international OEM specifications and local operational requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Author and draft original technical manuals, work instructions, and safety handbooks for specialised rail machinery based on raw OEM data.
- Research and interpret complex engineering specifications from Italian OEM fabricators, rewriting them into user-friendly instructional materials for Australian field staff.
- Manage the documentation lifecycle, including the initial research, drafting, technical review, and formal publication of maintenance and operating procedures.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive technical registers and spares catalogs, ensuring data accuracy for critical rolling stock components.
- Ensure compliance of all technical materials with Australian industrial standards and internal corporate documentation style guides.
- Provide technical translation support during liaison with international suppliers to ensure clear communication of engineering requirements.
About You
- Proven ability to research, author, and edit complex technical information-based material for educational or corporate purposes.
- Highly fluent in both English and Italian (written and verbal), with the specific ability to translate and rewrite technical concepts between languages.
- Experience in structuring large volumes of data into accessible, standardized formats (e.g., SOPs, Manuals, and Technical Reports).
- A meticulous approach to technical accuracy and version control.
- Experience in engineering, rail, construction, or heavy industry environments is highly regarded.
What Sets This Role Apart
- Opportunity to lead the documentation strategy for a specialised international rail project.
- A key role in ensuring operational readiness and safety through high-quality technical communication.
- Supportive team environment within a growing business invested in ingenuity.
