We are seeking to establish a pool of Special Needs Education Assistants (SNEA) for permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2026 school year and up to the end of Term 2, 2027. Appointments may be offered at any time for vacancies that commence during this period.
Karrinyup Primary School (PS) has a current student enrolment from Kindergarten to Year 6 of approximately 550. It is located just 15 minutes from the CBD and situated in close proximity to the largest shopping centre in Perth, as well as Trigg and Scarborough Beaches. The school grounds feature large amounts of well shaded areas and well-maintained water-wise native Australian garden beds, which all combine to provide a pleasant outlook and recreational space for not only students, but the community as a whole. The grounds include multi-purpose hard courts, two ovals and specialised playgrounds including a Nature Play area funded by the community.

The Role
As SNEA, suitable applicants would assist teachers in delivering planned education programs and encouraging a supportive and inclusive learning environment. This includes the operation of computers and digital technologies, and implementation of individual student or small group programs or demonstrations.
Part of the role as SNEA includes providing feedback when required on education and therapy programs and participating in the evaluation process relating to student progress. Ideally, applicants will be flexible and experienced in supporting needs of students with self-regulation of behaviour and social and emotional responses. The ability to assist with the general health and wellbeing of students and experience in using a variety of strategies to develop communication and socialisation skills is highly desirable.
Suitable applicants will ideally have excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to collaborate well with the teacher to create and maintain a supportive education program to meet the specific needs of the students. Previous experience supporting type one diabetic students would be advantageous.

- Demonstrated ability to assist teachers or therapists in implementing educational programs, including special education and, should this be a requirement of the position, occupational and/or physiotherapy programs.
- Demonstrated knowledge of health and physical disabilities in students and adolescents.
- Demonstrated ability to assist with general health and well-being of students.
