The Illawarra Brain Injury Service (IBIS) is seeking a skilled and motivated Social Worker to join our team, located at Port Kembla Hospital, on a temporary basis.

In this role, you will be part of a dynamic multidisciplinary team delivering high-quality community and outpatient services to eligible clients and their carers. Services are provided both individually and in group settings, with a strong emphasis on collaboration across disciplines to achieve optimal client outcomes.

The position offers a diverse and rewarding workload, combining case management of a designated caseload with discipline-specific responsibilities, including psychosocial assessment, counselling, support, and advocacy. This unique blend provides opportunities to develop both advanced clinical skills and care coordination expertise. IBIS is a district-wide service delivering specialised brain injury rehabilitation to eligible clients and their carers.

The service operates as part of the state-wide Brain Injury Rehabilitation Program (BIRP), contributing to a coordinated and comprehensive model of care.

A little about us.

As a part of the new Shellharbour Hospital and Integrated Services Project, a new Community Health Centre is being built on the old Port Kembla Hospital site. The Warrawong Community Health Centre will bring together a range of services including community mental health, drug and alcohol, community nursing, and child and family services.

Until the new Community Centre is complete, some allied health services will continue to operate out of the Port Kembla Hospital site.

This is a temporary leave relief position until 9 May 2027 with the possibility of extension.
