THE OPPORTUNITY
Location: Coominya, Queensland
The Quality System Coordinator plays a critical role in maintaining and improving the company’s Quality Management System (QMS) and ensuring workforce competency across all QA functions. This role supports operational compliance with regulatory, customer, and third-party standards (e.g. DAFF, Codex, North American, BRCGS, Costco, McDonald's, WQF).
ABOUT THE ROLE
You will have experience working within the Work Health and Safety Act and have exposure to implementing strategies to ensure compliance with other relevant rules, regulations, and legislative requirements in the workplace.
- Demonstrated experience with regulatory compliance and audits, particularly in export foods.
- Maintenance of Quality Manuals and associated documentation, and control distribution and amendments
- Maintaining programs such as QA/Aus-Meat and Department of Agriculture Approved Arrangements
- Review to make sure KGF complies with the legislative and operational requirements of the relevant Federal, State and Local Government Acts
- Undertaking periodic quality system audits and leading management reviews of the quality system, measuring program effectiveness, identifying corrective actions and ensuring their implementation
- Conducting investigations into quality issues as they arise, identifying corrective action to minimise impact
- Help ensure compliance with sampling and testing procedures, monitoring calibration of inspection and testing equipment to meet specified procedures
ABOUT YOU
- Minimum 3 years' experience in quality assurance within a food or meat processing environment.
- Maintain and continuously improve the Quality Management System (QMS), ensuring alignment with export regulations and customer standards.
- Support internal and external audits, including scheduling, preparation, participation, and close-out of findings.
- Ensure documentation (e.g., SOPs, forms, manuals) is up-to-date, accurate, and compliant with regulatory requirements.
- Coordinate document control processes, including version control, reviews, approvals, and communication of changes.
- Conduct regular gap assessments to identify compliance risks and areas for system improvement.
- Prepare documentation and staff for third-party and customer audits.
- Monitor compliance with internal audit schedules and escalate overdue or non-conforming actions.
- Support the development and closure of Corrective Action and Preventive Action (CAPA) plans.
- Complete statutory checks and audits in accordance with internal and external regulatory compliance requirements, including undertaking periodic quality system audits and assisting with management reviews of the quality system, measuring program effectiveness, identifying corrective actions and ensuring their implementation
- Monitor and review the ongoing implementation of quality systems as they relate to Kilcoy Global Foods, to ensure the quality and customer satisfaction of KGF products, together with satisfying the various statutory and regulatory requirements
- Assist Production Managers/Supervisors to make informed decisions based on a risk management approach to stop production, where required
- Develop QA solutions in partnership with the business to address organisational and industry challenges as they are anticipated or as they arise, with these Solutions being based on legislation and a risk management approach
- Review and analyse relevant data to provide reliable information to senior management on outcomes and results, demonstrating improvement in QA outcomes for the business
