About Us

Court Services Victoria provides corporate services and facilities to support the performance of the judicial, quasi-judicial and administrative functions of Victoria's courts and tribunal, Judicial College and Judicial Commission.

Collectively, Victoria's Supreme, County, Magistrates', Children's, and Coroners courts, the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal (VCAT), the Judicial College of Victoria, the Judicial Commission of Victoria, and Court Services Victoria (CSV) are referred to as the `Courts Group'.

Our people enable the Courts Group to deliver on each jurisdiction's own strategic priorities while also pursuing strategic opportunities that are interconnected and deliver benefits more broadly.

The Magistrates' Court of Victoria (MCV) has a long history of providing justice for the people of Victoria in metropolitan and regional courts across the state. The MCV determines in excess of 200,000 cases per annum at 51 venues, dealing with over 90 percent of all adult cases that come before Victorian courts each year.

MCV aims to be an innovative, accessible and responsive court that provides quality services to the Victorian community.

About the Role

As a Registrar, you will play a pivotal role in the daily operations of the Magistrates' Court, delivering legal, administrative and quasi-judicial services that support the judiciary, legal professionals and the Victorian community.

In this diverse and rewarding role, you will:

Manage court proceedings and perform in-court bench clerk duties.
Provide accurate information and advice on court processes, legislation and procedures.
Exercise statutory and discretionary powers in accordance with legislation, court rules and practice directions.
Engage with a broad range of stakeholders including magistrates, Victoria Police, legal practitioners, government agencies and members of the public.
Utilise case management systems and technology to support court operations.
Assist with the supervision, development and training of staff.

About You

You will thrive in a fast-paced environment, enjoy solving complex problems and are passionate about delivering services that support access to justice.

You will also bring:

Strong knowledge of Victorian court practices, legislation and procedures.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Proven ability to build effective relationships with diverse stakeholders.
Strong problem-solving, organisational and decision-making capabilities.
Experience leading, mentoring and supporting team members.
Certificate IV in Government (Court Services) or equivalent.
