An exciting professional development opportunity exists for a suitably qualified Registered Nurse to join the Drug and Alcohol Services at our Community Residential Withdrawal Unit based in Dandenong.
Nurse Manager / Full Time / Permanent / Monday - Friday

This position provides an excellent opportunity for you to step out from your current position to learn more about the Drug & Alcohol Services and management of drug & alcohol presentations.
About You
We’re looking for a Nurse Manager who leads with both heart and purpose—someone who is as passionate about delivering exceptional patient care as they are about supporting and inspiring their team. You will be a natural collaborator, building strong relationships across disciplines and with key stakeholders, while championing innovation and best practice in mental health and alcohol and other drug care. With a sharp clinical lens and a strategic mindset, you’ll balance high-quality outcomes with operational excellence, always keeping the patient at the centre.
Most importantly, you’ll be someone who invests in people and focusses on developing capability, encouraging growth, and fostering a culture where teams feel empowered, supported, and motivated to deliver outstanding care.
The successful candidate will have a sound knowledge of the Mental Health and Wellbeing Act 2022 and other acts/legislation relevant to working with adults in a mental health and/or mental health setting. They will demonstrate effective stakeholder engagement skills with an AOD setting with high level of interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
About the Role
The Community Residential Withdrawal Unit is affiliated with a hospital-based addiction medicine service and is under the clinical governance of the Monash Health Drug & Alcohol Services. The services is a 12 bed, short-stay alcohol, tobacco and other drug withdrawal unit that admit adult clients who are withdrawing from a variety and often combination of substances. The primary role of the Nurse Manager is to provide effective management of the day to day running of the unit, including rostering, meeting quality standards and key performance indicators, managing recruitment and retention and fiscal management for the unit.
This role ensures best nursing standards and evidence-based practice in care delivery for clients during their recovery journey. This opportunity would suit an experienced Registered Nurse who is passionate about supporting the health and recovery of individuals with substance use challenges and an understating and appreciation of the value of lived experience is essential.

Mandatory requirements of the Role
Post Graduate qualifications in Alcohol and Other Drugs
Or
Post Graduate Diploma in Mental Health Nursing – or completion of a specialist undergraduate psychiatric nursing program or specialist post basic course of training which led to registration as a Division 3 nurse is preferred but not essential
Clinical experience in Alcohol and Other Drugs
Demonstration of appropriate competencies and skills
Desirable completion of studies in management or leadership is preferred but not essential
