The Role & Your Impact The R&D Laboratory Technician provides critical support to our R&D Chemists and broader scientific teams to bring innovative concepts to life. Reporting directly to the R&D Operations Project Manager, you will act as a key hands-on link in our product development lifecycle. From preparing batches, gathering data on their stability, updating documentation and maintaining safety standards, your attention to detail directly impacts our understanding of our products.
Key Responsibilities:
- Batch Preparation: Assist with formulation work by accurately preparing batches, measuring key physical parameters, and providing feedback to R&D Chemists.
- Stability Monitoring: Schedule stability testing, measure physical parameters at routine time points, and record results.
- Database & Chemical Management: Monitor and re-order expired laboratory chemicals, log supplier samples into our ClickUp Chemicals Database, and ensure correct storage.
- Laboratory Operations & Maintenance: Perform equipment calibration, glassware washing, and general laboratory maintenance in line with the team roster.
- Documentation & Filing: Maintain accurate records, manage laboratory filing, and participate actively in regular laboratory team meetings.
- Safety & Compliance: Maintain a clean, organised, and safe workplace, proactively reporting hazards while following all Health & Safety guidelines.
What You Will Bring We are looking for a practical, collaborative technician who balances rigorous attention to detail with strong organisational skills.
Essential Requirements:
- Technical Aptitude: Experience or training in a laboratory environment with hands-on skill in batch preparation, physical parameter testing, and equipment calibration.
- Digital Literacy: Familiarity with data entry, and general record-keeping tools.
- Quality & Safety Focus: Strong commitment to health, safety, and continuous improvement, ensuring "no job is too urgent that it can't be done safely."
- Collaborative Mindset: Strong interpersonal skills to liaise effectively with R&D Chemists, Managers, and Quality/Stability teams.
