5-6 Morning Per Week. Experienced Riders Only.
Location: Casino, NSW
Business: Ethan T Ensby Racing
Ethan T Ensby Racing is a growing racing stable based in Casino, NSW, with 20–30 horses currently in work and expanding. We are seeking a dedicated and reliable Trackwork Rider to join our team.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to develop their career in the racing industry within a supportive and hands-on stable environment.
You will be responsible for riding trackwork, assisting with daily stable duties, and contributing to the overall care and preparation of our horses.
Duties will vary depending on your riding experience — those with more advanced riding skills will take on a greater share of trackwork, while less experienced riders will be required to assist more with general stablehand duties.
We place a strong emphasis on maintaining well-educated, tractable horses, and it is essential that all team members continue to uphold this standard in their daily work.
- Riding trackwork including timed fast work, pace work, general exercise, and jumpouts
- Assisting with horse care including saddling, washing, feeding, and general handling
- Maintaining consistent, calm, and correct handling to support horse education and behaviour
- Monitoring horse health, soundness, and behaviour
- Identifying and communicating any changes in a horse’s movement, attitude, or condition to the Trainer, Assistant Trainer, or Foreperson
- Supporting race day and trial preparation when required
- Maintaining a clean and safe stable environment
Horse welfare is a priority within our operation. Riders are expected to develop the ability to feel and assess changes in horses during work, with clear communication being essential.
As our stable continues to expand its sports science and performance-based approach, accurate and timely reporting of any concerns plays a key role in improving outcomes through the early detection and treatment of injury or illness.
- Horse riding experience is essential (confident handling thoroughbreds preferred)
- Strong work ethic and reliability
- Ability to work early mornings and weekends
- Willingness to learn and take direction
- Team player with a positive attitude
- Good communication skills and attention to detail
- Must be eligible (or willing to obtain) relevant Racing NSW licences

- Afternoon and race day work will be discussed and agreed upon based on individual circumstances
- Opportunity to work in a growing and ambitious racing stable
- Hands-on experience with a diverse team of horses
- Exposure to a progressive, performance-driven environment
- Support and development for those pursuing an apprentice jockey pathway
- Friendly, team-oriented environment
- Competitive remuneration based on experience, skill level, and responsibilities
- Opportunity for increased riding workload and earnings as experience develops
Applicants must provide contactable references and a current CV.
This is not an 88-day eligible location.
