Details: The Records and Mail Officer role sits within ArchivesACT, part of the Territory Records Office, which provides records management, archival and mail distribution services to ACT Government directorates. The Office plays a key role in supporting government accountability, business continuity and the preservation of Canberra’s historical record.
The Records and Mail Officer plays an important role in supporting the secure and efficient delivery of mail and records services across the ACT Government. This includes sorting and distributing mail, coordinating courier services and undertaking records management activities such as file retrieval, storage, scanning and disposal.
The role requires the use of systems such as ServiceNow, HPE Content Manager and the courier management system to manage service requests and maintain accurate records. Officers are expected to provide a high level of customer service to a broad range of stakeholders and work across mail and records functions to meet operational requirements.
This is a hands-on, multi-functional role that primarily supports Mailroom and Records operations. The role works across both mail and records functions to meet operational requirements and may also provide support to digitisation activities as required, including assisting with the preparation of records and the secure handling of materials to support digital capture processes.
The role involves manual handling and regular travel between government sites using fleet vehicles. A current C-class driver’s licence (provisional accepted) is essential.
Eligibility/Other requirements:
- Ability to work in a manual‑handling environment, including lifting, moving and handling physical records and archive boxes.

Notes: There are several positions available immediately for a period of six months, with the possibility of extension up to 12 months and/or permanency. A merit pool will be established from this selection process and will be used to fill future vacancies over the next 12 months.
