Details: The ACT Coroners Court is seeking a compassionate and skilled Family Liaison Officer to join our team in the Coroners Court and Forensic Medicine Centre. This is a meaningful opportunity to support families navigating the coronial process.

About the Role:
As the Family Liaison Officer, you will act as a key point of contact for bereaved families, providing clear, timely, and sensitive communication about coronial processes. You will ensure families feel informed and respected, while maintaining professional boundaries and adhering to legislative requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Liaise with families and provide information about coronial investigations and inquests
Communicate key updates, decisions, and processes in a trauma-informed manner
Coordinate responses to enquiries and facilitate family engagement
Develop accessible information resources and communication strategies
Work collaboratively with legal, administrative, and judicial staff

About You:

You are an empathetic communicator with strong interpersonal skills and experience working in complex or sensitive environments. You understand trauma-informed practice and are confident engaging with people from diverse cultural backgrounds. You can manage competing priorities while maintaining professionalism and compassion.

Note: This role involves exposure to sensitive and confronting material. This role is not a counselling role.

Strong communication, liaison, and stakeholder engagement skills
Ability to work independently and within a team
Experience in justice, legal, or inquest environments

Notes: This is a temporary position available immediately until 30 November 2026, possibility of extension up to 12 months. A Merit Pool will be established from this selection process and will be used to fill vacancies over the next 12 months. Selection may be based on application and referee reports only.
