The Role

We are seeking a Quantity Surveyor to assist our high-performing team on a major project based in Sydney, New South Wales. The Quantity Surveyor is responsible for supporting the project team by producing estimates, tenders, and quotations, ensuring that accurate information is submitted on time and within indicated conditions.

Job tasks and responsibilities

Work closely with project teams in the preparation and agreement of client Payment Claims and evaluating & pricing variations for presentation to the client
Invoicing clients once payment certificates are received
Prepare submit and negotiate project final accounts.
Preparation and submission of commercial documentation such as extension of time claims, assisting with Quality Assurance documents, etc
To carry out monthly valuations of work in progress
Work closely with project team to prepare accurate cost and revenue forecasts and monthly reports
Prepare subcontractor documents and manage subcontractor packages and payments incl monthly claims, payment certificates, variations, and final accounts
Responsible for the preparation, updating, monitoring and forecasting of project cash flows, including accountability for cash collection from clients
Overseeing all project costs/expenditure & revenue
Evaluate tender submissions from subcontractors and suppliers, analyse pricing and commercial compliance, prepare tender comparison schedules, and provide recommendations for contract award.
Prepare and review Bills of Quantities (BOQs), schedules of rates, and measurement documentation using architectural and engineering drawings.
Provide ongoing cost advice to project managers and clients by monitoring project expenditure, identifying cost variances, and recommending cost-saving initiatives throughout the project lifecycle
Measure completed construction works in accordance with contract requirements to verify quantities for progress payments, variations, and final accounts
Assist in developing procurement strategies and recommend suitable contract delivery methods to achieve project objectives
Identification and recording of commercial risks and opportunities
Ensure that business commercial processes are adhered to at project level
Preparation and submission of monthly commercial reports to senior management
Representing the company at industry events, trade shows, and internal company functions to promote the business and identify networking opportunities.
Keeping up to date with knowledge of products, services, and value propositions to effectively position the company in competitive markets.
Negotiating with stakeholders and decision-makers to secure profitable contracts and support the successful delivery of business initiatives.

Skills required:

A relevant Bachelor's Degree.
Experience using Procore advantageous
Prior experience within the Rail, Civil or Construction sector
Advanced computer skills
Excellent communication skills dealing with a variety of different stakeholders
Exceptional attention to detail
Ability to consistently produce accurate information at a fast pace
Well-honed and can manage competing deadlines
Ability to drive improvements and efficiencies through innovation and self-initiative
Ability to develop and maintain positive relationships

Experience: At least 3 years full time experience working as Quantity Surveyor (Civil Engineering experience also highly favoured).
