Purcell Painting & Decorating is a reputable painting business delivering high-quality residential and
commercial painting services across the Byron and surrounding areas. We take pride in our
craftsmanship, attention to detail, and the relationships we build with our clients. As we continue to grow,
we’re looking for a skilled Painter to join our team.
Duties and Responsibilities:
● Prepare surfaces for painting by scraping, sanding, patching holes, removing old paint, and
cleaning surfaces to ensure proper adhesion and finish quality.
● Apply paints, varnishes, stains, primers, and sealants to residential and commercial building
surfaces using brushes, rollers, and conventional painting spray equipment.
● Measure and estimate material requirements, including paints, coatings, and surface preparation
materials, to complete projects efficiently.
● Mix and match paints and finishes to achieve required colours, textures, and specifications.
● Erect and use ladders, scaffolding, and other access equipment safely while carrying out painting
and decorating works.
● Protect surrounding areas, fixtures, furniture, and flooring by using drop sheets, masking tape,
and protective coverings during painting activities.
● Apply decorative and protective finishes to walls, ceilings, timber, plasterboard, and other building
surfaces in residential and commercial properties.
● Repair minor surface defects including cracks, dents, and damaged plaster prior to painting and
finishing.
● Read and interpret work orders, project specifications, and client requirements to ensure works
are completed to required standards and timelines.
● Maintain painting tools, spray equipment, and work areas in a clean and safe condition in
accordance with workplace health and safety requirements.
● Work collaboratively with supervisors, clients, and other tradespersons to coordinate painting and
decorating activities on-site.
● Inspect completed work to ensure quality workmanship, consistency of finish, and compliance
with company and industry standards.
Skills / Experience / Specific Qualifications Required:
(KEY COMPETANCIES, MUST HAVES – Minimum number of years’ experience + qualifications)
- Relevant trade qualification in Painting and Decorating, or at least three years of relevant
experience as a Painter in residential or commercial painting and decorating, which may
substitute for formal qualifications.
- Ability to read and interpret work orders, project specifications, and safety requirements.
- Demonstrated experience in surface preparation, paint application, colour matching, and
use of painting tools and spray equipment.

Pay: $77,000.00 – $85,000.00 per year
