The City of Busselton is seeking an experienced and safety-focused Drainage Senior Plant Operator / Labourer to join our Infrastructure and Environment team.
In this hands-on role you will play an important role in maintaining the City's drainage network and civil assets, while helping to deliver high-quality services to our growing community.
About the role:
Reporting to the Drainage Leading Hand, you will contribute to the delivery of construction, maintenance and capital works programs across the City's civil infrastructure network. You will operate a range of plant and equipment, undertake drainage maintenance and construction activities, and support the ongoing improvement of essential public assets.
What you’ll be doing:
- Operate a range of plant and equipment including backhoes, loaders, rollers, graders, tractors and commercial vehicles.
- Undertake drainage construction, reconstruction and maintenance works.
- Contribute to the maintenance of roads, footpaths, cycleways, bridges, boat ramps, car parks and other civil infrastructure.
- Assist with emergency works, overtime and weekend works when required.
- Support team planning, problem solving and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Ensure all work is completed safely and in accordance with legislative and operational requirements.
What you’ll bring to the role:
- Minimum two years' experience in a similar civil construction, maintenance or drainage role.
- Demonstrated experience operating construction plant and equipment, particularly backhoes.
- Strong understanding of site safety requirements and underground service awareness.
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work effectively within a team environment.
Pre-employment requirements:
- Current HR Class Driver's Licence
- White Card
- National Police Clearance (less than six months old)
- Ability to successfully complete required pre-employment medical assessments including functional capacity, hearing and silica assessments
