The City of Busselton is seeking an experienced and safety-focused Drainage Senior Plant Operator / Labourer to join our Infrastructure and Environment team.

In this hands-on role you will play an important role in maintaining the City's drainage network and civil assets, while helping to deliver high-quality services to our growing community.

About the role:

Reporting to the Drainage Leading Hand, you will contribute to the delivery of construction, maintenance and capital works programs across the City's civil infrastructure network. You will operate a range of plant and equipment, undertake drainage maintenance and construction activities, and support the ongoing improvement of essential public assets.

What you’ll be doing:

Operate a range of plant and equipment including backhoes, loaders, rollers, graders, tractors and commercial vehicles.
Undertake drainage construction, reconstruction and maintenance works.
Contribute to the maintenance of roads, footpaths, cycleways, bridges, boat ramps, car parks and other civil infrastructure.
Assist with emergency works, overtime and weekend works when required.
Support team planning, problem solving and continuous improvement initiatives.
Ensure all work is completed safely and in accordance with legislative and operational requirements.

What you’ll bring to the role:

Minimum two years' experience in a similar civil construction, maintenance or drainage role.
Demonstrated experience operating construction plant and equipment, particularly backhoes.
Strong understanding of site safety requirements and underground service awareness.
Good written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work effectively within a team environment.

Pre-employment requirements:

Current HR Class Driver's Licence
White Card
National Police Clearance (less than six months old)
Ability to successfully complete required pre-employment medical assessments including functional capacity, hearing and silica assessments
